What Is Floor Preparation?
Floor Preparation is the process of preparing the existing flooring to receive new flooring and ensure that your new flooring will look great, lay flat, stay bonded, and not fail. In many cases, the existing flooring needs to be removed which can lead to a multitude of issues.
Each installation is unique and will require its own specific preparations. For a subfloor to serve as an appropriate base for your new flooring, a number of requirements must be met: Properly cleaned and free of any dust and debris. Flat (level within 3/16 of an inch for every 10 feet) Structurally sound.
Floor preparation plays a vital role in the success of any flooring project. From removing old flooring to inspecting and repairing the subfloor, addressing moisture issues, installing underlayment, and ensuring proper surface preparation, each step is crucial for creating a solid foundation for your new flooring.
