Our specially designed dust-free equipment makes Removing Epoxy From Concrete much faster than traditional Removing Epoxy From Concrete. It is also more efficient than traditional removal techniques and is substantially cleaner and safer. This gives our Dust-Free Epoxy Removal process the added benefit of being the most environmentally friendly solution.

We will also perform demolition services with the use of high-powered commercial dust extraction equipment plugged directly into our tools.
Unfortunately, small amounts of dust are still produced and cannot be eliminated even with the most expensive high-end equipment and the latest technology. It should also be noted that certain equipment such as Jackhammers has a harder time trying to contain the dust even with the use of high-end dust extractors. While Concrete Grinders can contain dust a lot more easily. (Roughly 90 – 99.99% of the dust is still sucked up by a 3-engine high-powered commercial dust extractor that is plugged directly into the equipment) but sometimes a small amount of dust can still escape.
If you are concerned about the small amounts of dust that may get into areas that we are not working in such as the kitchens, bathrooms, cabinets, etc. we would advise that you seal off those areas that we are not working in with plastic and sticky tape before our team arrives to avoid delays.

What Is The Process Of Removing Epoxy From Concrete?
The removal process can involve mechanical methods such as grinding or blasting and sometimes chemical strippers to weaken the epoxy’s adhesion. This task can be time-consuming and requires careful planning to avoid damaging the underlying concrete.
In some locations, sections of the epoxy wear away while other parts stay fast, giving an uneven look to the overall finish of the room. If you run a customer-facing business, where a lot of people come walking through, epoxy floor finishes can look worn within a short time frame.
If you think you’re ready to get a new floor in place, the first step is getting that old epoxy off and disposed of in the right way.
Removing Epoxy Paint From Concrete can be easy with the right tools and skills. If you’re tired of looking at epoxy in your home or business and are ready to get rid of it and make a change, Dust-Free Concrete Grinding Sydney can help.
All things wear out, your Epoxy Floor Coating will need attention and/or removal. Because Epoxy Floor Coatings are inherently durable they can be extremely difficult to remove, with mechanical means being the most favourable approach.
Acetone and heat can be used but this is usually reserved for coatings that are designed for domestic applications, tiny areas, and thin coatings. Anything hardier will require Concrete Grinding. Whilst Concrete Grinding is best practice, within that are further considerations: the final finish required & the hardness of the concrete, and the intended use of the space upon completion.
1) Preparation:
The first step is to remove any floor coverings or underlay as well as any old coatings, adhesives, and dust. The concrete should be cleaned before any installation of Epoxy to ensure the Epoxy bonds correctly.
2) Test Patch:
Before beginning any lengthy runs across the surface with our large Concrete Grinders, we use a small but powerful hand grinder to do a test patch somewhere less conspicuous. This will determine how resistant and strong the Epoxy or adhesive is, as well as how favourable or unfavourable the underlying concrete will be. Both of these variables will determine your choice of Concrete Grinding Diamond Discs, Plugs, or Shoes.
3) Raised Surfaces:
Your concrete surface must be brought back to the same height as the remainder of the floor. We cannot use a Concrete Grinder that has more surface area than the Epoxy it is removing or we risk gouging the surrounding area. We will approach raised surfaces by using high-powered machinery such as a Concrete Scarifier or Shot Blaster.
4) Diamond Discs, Plugs, or Shoes:
Diamond Disc, Plugs, or Shoes are an important selection, as important as any other factor in the process. Diamonds that are too light will become glazed, too heavy and they will leave scratch marks. We recommend using PCD Diamonds, followed up by 16-grit diamonds to leave a smooth finish ready for the re-installation of a new coating or flooring system.
5) The Removal:
Using a Concrete Grinder, walk the machine across the entire floor in a series of parallel runs. This process will need your full attention at all times. Too fast and you won’t remove enough material, too slow and you risk cutting too deeply. Too much overlap will leave an uneven surface, not enough and you will miss areas, meaning another pass. Thicker coatings will require more laps and stronger diamonds. PCDs must be used for thicker coatings. While #16 grits are fine for thin coatings.
6) Dust:
(P2) Dust Masks should always be used in combination with Commercial or Industrial (M CLASS) Dust Extractors. Silica is the silent killer for many people in the construction industry. It’s important to protect your health from the dangerous Silica Dust.

Removal may be required if you need to get rid of the old coating and apply a new one, or if the concrete underneath needs to be repaired. The process to Remove Epoxy Coatings From Concrete takes hours. scraping the epoxy away with metal scrapers and chemicals, and this method may not even be possible unless your Epoxy Coating is in poor condition and within a small area.

Want To Learn More About The Different Methods For Removing Epoxy From Concrete?
Epoxy is a super hard composite material with many uses – among them finishes on a concrete garage or workshop floor. You’ll get many years of wear. But what if you need to Remove Epoxy from concrete?
How you proceed will depend on the condition of the epoxy and how long it has been on the concrete. If it’s a simple spill, It’s best to begin clean-up as soon as the epoxy is spilled. Although it will harden, the adhesive will not fully cure for several hours, or possibly even over 24 hours (Depending on the product used)
When it comes to how to Remove Epoxy Coatings from concrete, knowing the right approach is key. This guide cuts straight to the chase when it comes to Removing Epoxy From Concrete, offering explicit steps for every method possible while highlighting the importance of safety and avoiding damage to tackle your project with confidence by following our comprehensive directions.
Below we are going to go in-depth into every different method used for Removing Epoxy From Concrete.
1) Hand Grinder or Concrete Grinder:
Removing Epoxy with a Hand Grinder or Concrete Grinder is our preferred method for removing old, hardened Epoxy Coatings from concrete floors. It’s highly effective, affords us the control we need, and we have the experience and equipment to do it quickly and safely.
Concrete surfaces are not indestructible though and you don’t want to damage your surfaces by overgrinding. Larger concrete grinders are used for large areas, while you can use a handheld hand grinder to get into corners or edges.
2) Shot Blasting:
Removing Epoxy with a Shot Blaster is extremely fast and is mostly used for commercial work or Epoxy Line Removal.
3) Concrete Scarifier:
Removing Epoxy with a Concrete Scarifier is extremely fast at removing thick coatings and is mostly used for commercial work or asphalt work.
4) Pressure Washing:
Removing Epoxy using a Pressure Washer is sometimes possible depending on how weak the Line Marking or Epoxy is, it’s mostly only used for Line Markings that are in fairly poor condition.
5) Powered Floor Scrapers and Ride-On Floor Scrapers:
Removing Epoxy with floor scrapers and ride-on floor scrapers is our preferred method for removing old, hardened Epoxy Coatings from concrete floors in commercial and industrial areas. It’s highly effective, affords us the control we need, and we have the experience and equipment to do it quickly and safely.
6) Heat Gun and Scraping:
Removing Epoxy by using a heat gun, putty knife, hand scraper, or chisel is possible for small areas. Heating the Epoxy beyond its TG (softening point) and/or cure temperature, can soften the Epoxy. You can try this by using a heat gun or a soldering iron on the Epoxy bond line, heating only small sections of the bond line at a time so it stays warm enough to soften. After you have heated the small area of epoxy, use a sharp object to try to scrape away the Epoxy Coating. Scrapers, Chisels, and Putty knives are often used to try to scrape it away.
You may want to apply localised heat if you’re correcting a mistake on a DIY project or a small part of a larger flooring project. The heat will soften the epoxy resin, which helps to break down its adhesion to the concrete. This will allow you to scrape the epoxy off simply.
7) Chemically:
Removing Epoxy Chemically, using different types of chemicals. Epoxy is praised for its chemical resistance, which is why you’ll find Epoxy Flooring at industrial facilities and family-owned restaurants and kitchens. However, though Epoxy can’t be excessively damaged by solvents, it can be temporarily softened for removal in small areas.
Removing Epoxy From Concrete using a solvent, you must soak a small area with the chemical until the epoxy has sufficiently softened and then scrap away at it with either a mechanical grinder or by hand. Professionals will use heavy-duty solvents, which you may be able to purchase from your local hardware store, but common meth for Removing Epoxy From Concrete solvents also include:
1) Isopropyl alcohol
2) Denatured alcohol
3) Acetone
4) Sulfuric acid
5) Muriatic acid
6) Toluene
7) Paint Thinners
The listed solvents are highly flammable, and all solvents emit toxic fumes that can injure people and damage the surrounding area. Solvents are usually the best way to Remove Epoxy from small areas — grouting, for instance. Though we may occasionally use solvents to soften Epoxy, Concrete Grinding is always our preferred method.
Acetone can be effective on wood or concrete surfaces. It should loosen the Epoxy, so you can peel it away easily. Use acetone only in well-ventilated areas and keep it away from any flammable objects.
If the Epoxy Paint Coating is in extremely poor condition and is a small area (such as 10 square metres or less), then this is a job you could potentially tackle yourself.
What Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Should Be Worn?
Depending on the method used, we recommend the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) below.
Is There Magnesite Flooring In Your Property?
If your home was built in the 1920s – 1980s, likely, your home (Especially unit blocks in NSW) could potentially have Magnesite Flooring. Magnesite is present below a flooring system such as carpet. Magnesite is a product used as a noise preventative and a Floor Levelling agent.
Magnesite Flooring absorbs moisture (particularly in areas prone to moisture such as external walls, doorways, around shower recesses, near windows, laundries, etc.) Unfortunately, once Magnesite Flooring absorbs moisture it starts a chemical reaction that will cause Concrete Cancer over long periods.
Because your Magnesite Flooring was laid 40 – 100 years ago, it has likely absorbed moisture over the many decades that it has been trapped under your flooring system and it has most likely started to break down and lose its strength making it an unsuitable Floor Levelling product that it once was, as well as very hollow, which destroys its soundproofing.
The best thing you can do to prevent further damage to your property and the concrete slab is to remove it ASAP. Magnesite Flooring consists of Magnesium Oxychloride, which may contain asbestos.
Since it is a health hazard and a major safety risk in NSW, if you remove your flooring system and find out there is Magnesite under it.
YOU MUST remove your Magnesite Flooring for the safety of you and everyone else in your unit block.
Strata may pay to remove your Magnesite Flooring as it is considered “Common property”. Magnesite Flooring can cause Concrete Cancer which is a major risk to everyone’s safety as well as the successful reinstallation of your new flooring system.
NO company will give you any form of warranty or insurance on any flooring installation job on a magnesite floor, which is another reason why it should always be removed.

WHY CHOOSE
FLOORING REMOVAL & CONCRETE GRINDING SYDNEY?
Dustmaster® series dust extractors have been specially designed to handle the demands of the concrete grinding industry which has high-loading fine dust.
This is the H-Class (often referred to as HEPA) Dust extractor that is certified to handle hazardous dust. These amazing dust collectors have been certified to capture up to 99.99% of the dust.
– Dust extraction in our industry is often more important than the actual grinding itself. Without it, we could breathe the fine dust which could be detrimental to our health.
– Featuring dual 10A motors, maximum performance is ensured. The longopac bagging system makes handling and disposal of hazardous dust much easier.
– Performance is maintained by the rotary filter cleaning mechanism which automatically cleans the filter during operation.
– This machine has a single durable toggle switch for each motor.
– A deep clean is achieved while running whilst the motor is turned off. The rotary filter cleaning can be turned off when the DustMaster is not in use, using the rotary switch on the front panel.
– H-Class (H13) dust extractors must pass the 0.3µm DOP test that certifies they capture no less than 99.99% of the dust.
– The rotary filter cleaning system is very effective and takes only 10-20 seconds to deep clean the filter. You may never have to remove the filter to clean it again, keeping your job and your hands cleaner!
– You won’t find a better piece of equipment to handle your job, this is the most high-end piece of equipment that we can use for your job. The next level up would require a 15A power supply which would require you to supply us a generator on-site as residential power only has 10A.

TESTIMONIALS
“Was completely gobsmacked at the quotes that I got from 3 other company’s on the northern beaches and how outrageously high they were just to remove the carpet in a shop I had recently purchased. So it was such a relief when my friend recommended I try out Carpet Removal Sydney and I ended up saving over $3,000, Thanks again!”
“Can’t argue with cheapest prices, best customer services, and same day service! very impressed!”
“Thanks again for your help guys, I really appreciate you coming so far to do such a small job”
“He has great product knowledge and took the time to thoroughly explain the differences of each carpet in a simple way. He has a very personable manner and is very friendly and polite. He explained the process well provided a competitive quote. He was flexible with the install date (as I had some other trades finishing off work before the carpet could be installed) and worked with me to secure a date that suited both parties. I had an issue with the underlay requirements due to strata laws and Declan was very helpful in helping me source the correct underlay to meet strata requirements. I believe he went over and above his role to assist me. The floors are amazing! I’m extremely happy with the choice and the whole process. Thank you Declan. I hope Carpet Removal Sydney realise what an asset you are to their team. ”
“I was shocked when I had realised that my daughter had spilled my paint set all over my new carpet in my rental property, had no idea what to do, everything I tried failed, gave Carpet Removal Sydney a quick call and they gave me free advice over the phone, with no charge that actually worked! Thank you so much!”
“The boys at Carpet Removal Sydney also did an absolutely amazing job with the removal as well as the installation of my carpet as well after it was flooded by my dishwasher overnight. Called them up at 6 pm, they were also there the next day and completed the take up the same day! Really happy with the result.”
“Thanks again boys! really happy with how my shop looks now! i knew ripping out the carpet was the best option, definitely looks a lot better with a clean smooth slab so that i could install a nice hardwood floor”
“The boys at Carpet Removal Sydney went out of their way to help me so much as I wasn’t able to move a lot of the furniture myself as my back isn’t great. I also saved over $400 getting the carpet removed by these guys! Would recommend, thanks again!”
“I attempted a carpet removal job my self in my new office only to realise the job was commercially glued down, needless to say as a I.T nerd i had absolutely no chance of removing it haha. I thought i would give a few companys a call to request a quote on how much the removal process would cost… and my god i was shocked at the overwhelming expense of how much commercial carpet removal costs… I was so relieved though when i stumbled across Carpet Removal Sydney (One of my co-workers recently had their team out to remove carpet in a new house they purchased) and was relieved when i finally found a company that was willing to do it for a fair price. I was a little concerned at the start due to their price being so much lower than all of their competitors, but my co-worker re assured me that they had an amazing team. I was quite relieved when the whole process was over and they had done such an amazing job for almost a third of their competitors prices. Thanks again lads! If you ever need a computer fixed hit me up! ”
“You were very professional, well dressed, well mannered and quick. I will recommend your services to our friends. Thanks again!”
“I always recommend Carpet Removal Sydney when a tenant moves out of one of our properties if the carpet needs to be replaced. They always do an amazing job, leave the property clean and save our clients hundreds and sometimes even thousands.”
“Very impressed with your team members high quality work. You all arrived on time, you did an amazing job finish the removal process and installation process without damaging anything. (My last two experiences with carpet layers from carpet court they both damaged the skirting boards and a piece of furniture) So thanks for giving me faith again that a job can be completed without my property being damaged. And thanks to your team for helping me in such short notice due to my unit having flood damage! Really appreciate everything that you did for me!”
“Excellent service from the team at Carpet Removal Sydney. Will definitely use their services again, was absolutely amazed at how much money I saved going through Carpet Removal Sydney instead of going through Carpet Court.”
“I had absolutely no idea what to do when we had a pipe burst in our property, but thankfully Carpet Removal Sydney had a 24-hour emergency assistance team that did an absolutely amazing job with the removal of the carpet that had been completely soaked, called them up at 2 am on a Tuesday and they were here within 30minutes. Couldn’t be happier with their services!”
