Can I Steam Mop My Polished Concrete Floors?
So Can I Steam Mop My Polished Concrete Floors?
NO, A steam mop should never be used on a Polished Concrete Floor, nor should you use harsh chemicals such as bleach, citrus products, or oils. A microfibre mop is all that is required in conjunction with water or a neutral ph cleaner such as GTA Tough Green.
We strongly discourage anyone from steam-mopping Polished Concrete Floors. This is because steam pushes into the tiny pores in the floor under pressure, but these pores have been closed by grout to ensure a seamless floor.
By keeping the pores in the floor closed, the grout helps ensure that the floor does not harbour dust mites, mould spores, breathing irritants, or other debris. But if you use a steam mop, the steam will push out the grout from those pores and as a result, you will lose the premiere hygienic quality of your Polished Concrete Floor. To preserve the properties of the Polished Concrete Floors that make it such a worthwhile investment the good news is, there’s really no need to use a steam mop for a Polished Concrete Floor anyway because there is no grout, ridges, or grooves to worry about on the surface. Polished Concrete Floors are actually very easy to clean with just a lightweight microfibre mop and some hot water!
